Students of the major of Graduation in Administration went on a technical visit to the City Council of Curitiba on the 18th of April. The visit was coordinated by the professor of the discipline of Economics and Public Policies, Prof. Dr. Christian Luiz da Silva, and the UTFPR master’s student, Elis Bianca Azevedo. The purpose of the visit is to approximate theory and practice, as a proposal to align the graduation in administration with the emphasis on public administration, which is one of the strategic focus of the School of Management and Economics of UTFPR.
At the City Council, the group was received by Cristina Fonseca de Jesus (Administrative Technician); Luciane de Fátima Pereira (Legislative Analyst); and Antonio Carlos Torrens (Analyst). The first dealt with the public budget and the commissions that involve the functioning of the council. The second presented the structure of the council and the role of councilmen and the forms of propositions and procedures of the laws. The third portrayed the objectives of the School of the Legislative that seeks to provide political education to the population.
With this initiative, UTFPR approaches the community and increases the dialogue about the possibilities of articulation of the institution as a teaching, research and extension institution, responsible for the training of professionals and citizens, members of a democratic process in consolidation.
The Council, through its representatives, reinforced the interest of this approach and put itself at the disposal of UTFPR to even teach courses and lectures at the university itself.
