UTFPR launches the School of Management and Economics in Curitiba

With the purpose of promoting greater integration and interaction of knowledge in the area of Management and Economics, UTFPR launched on August 21st the School of Management and Economics. The mission is to strengthen strategic actions to disseminate an entrepreneurial culture and innovation in contemporary management practices, given the challenges posed by economic dynamics.

Technical Report: Evaluation of the Municipal Policy for the Integrated Management of Urban Solid Waste in Porto Alegre

On the last day 27, Prof. Christian Luiz da Silva from the Federal Technological University of Paraná went to the State Public Prosecutor’s Office of Porto Alegre to launch the Technical Report: Evaluation of the Municipal Policy for the Integrated Management of Urban Solid Waste in Porto Alegre.

The event brought together experts from the public prosecutor’s office, court of law, cooperatives, companies and other agents of the waste chain. Book: National Policy on Solid Waste: Implementation and Monitoring of Urban Waste

The Energy and Environment Institute from USP, together with the National Solid Waste Policy Observatory, published the book National Policy on Solid Waste: Implementation and Monitoring of Urban Waste.

The publication has a chapter titled “Multidimensional indicators of the Municipal Policy of Integrated Management of urban solid waste of Brazilian capitals: a panorama from 2008 to 2014” and result of the activities of the group. Congratulations to the authors Christian Luiz da Silva, Gabriel Massao Fugii, Alain Hernandez Santoyo, Izabel Biernaski and Ana Paula Myszczuk.

8th International Forum on Solid Waste

From 06/12 to 06/14, UTFPR carried out in partnership with the Venturi Institute the 8th International Forum on Solid Waste. The event had several panels, oral and banner presentations, mini-courses, a technical visit and exhibition of handicrafts using recycled materials.

Seminar “Greening Jobs by the Way of Development”

On Friday, May 26 of 2017, the PPGTE / UTFPR an invitation from prof. Dr. Christian Luiz da Silva, from PD2T, the interesting seminar with the theme “Greening Jobs by the Way of Development” by Prof. Dr. Paulo Afonso Bracarense Costa.

The lecture dealt with the book of the same title, based on his master’s degree in public policies developed at the Universities of Humboldt in Berlin and Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), in which the author presents a proposal for application of the concepts of employment and green work, as well as the indicator of density of green jobs, allowing a more precise construction on jobs and their environmental impact. An interesting discussion on possibilities of applying the indicator followed the lecture.

The Prof. PhD. Paulo Afonso Bracarense Costa – is Member of the Statistics Department of UFPR, Master in Agronomy by ESALQ-USP, Master in Public Policy by the University of Berlin and Viadrina-Frankfurth University, PhD by UFSC and University of South Florida USA. He was Director of the Center for Management and Strategic Studies of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (CGEE) and Secretary of Labor in Curitiba, when carried out in the municipality to adhere to the commitments to generate decent work and green jobs, proposed by the ILO.

Students of the Administration major visit the City Council of Curitiba

Students of the major of Graduation in Administration went on a technical visit to the City Council of Curitiba on the 18th of April. The visit was coordinated by the professor of the discipline of Economics and Public Policies, Prof. Dr. Christian Luiz da Silva, and the UTFPR master’s student, Elis Bianca Azevedo. The purpose of the visit is to approximate theory and practice, as a proposal to align the graduation in administration with the emphasis on public administration, which is one of the strategic focus of the School of Management and Economics of UTFPR.

At the City Council, the group was received by Cristina Fonseca de Jesus (Administrative Technician); Luciane de Fátima Pereira (Legislative Analyst); and Antonio Carlos Torrens (Analyst). The first dealt with the public budget and the commissions that involve the functioning of the council. The second presented the structure of the council and the role of councilmen and the forms of propositions and procedures of the laws. The third portrayed the objectives of the School of the Legislative that seeks to provide political education to the population.

With this initiative, UTFPR approaches the community and increases the dialogue about the possibilities of articulation of the institution as a teaching, research and extension institution, responsible for the training of professionals and citizens, members of a democratic process in consolidation.

The Council, through its representatives, reinforced the interest of this approach and put itself at the disposal of UTFPR to even teach courses and lectures at the university itself.

International Seminar on the Prospection of Renewable Energies

From April 5 to 12, 2017, the International Seminar on the Prospection of Renewable Energies was held, coordinated by the research group Public Policies and Dynamics of Territorial Development, led by Prof. Dr. Christian Luiz da Silva, that received Prof. Dr. Mayra Casas Vilardell (Universidad de Pinar del Río), or Prof. Dr. Alain Hernández Santoyo, postdoctoral fellow by the Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná, and Prof. Arielys Martínez Hernández, of the Universidad de Pinar del Río, who is doing her sandwich doctorate from March to September this year in the Postgraduate Program in Technology and Society under the supervision of Prof. Christian.

This seminar is part of the international cooperation between the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná and the Universidad de Pinar del Río (UPR) funded by the MÊS/CUBA call of CAPES. The project is in the third year of completion and ends in 2018. In addition to the work missions, study missions are being carried out as part of this year’s visit by Prof. Arielys. Prof. Decio Estevão do Nascimento will be doing his post-doctorate at UPR by the end of this year.

The project is financed by the funding call (Edital Universal) and this time has new partners, such as Unioeste and UNILA.

This project is part of the internationalization efforts of the Postgraduate Program in Technology and Society (PPGTE) and the Planning and Public Governance Program (PPGPGP). It also has the support of and joint actions with the Department of Management and Economics (DAGEE).
